Eek!

Yeah. Silver/gold pantaloons, blue jingle belt (someone thought I might have been Santa Claus until they saw me), fuchsia hair wrap, purple cutout shirt, earrings, and shockingly, makeup. Unless I’m interviewing, they ain’t gonna see *that* again. 🙂

Ear worm for you. No charge. Cause that’s how we roll.
Could have been worse you know. Could have been the Muppet “mah-nop” song. Or…(*WEG*) any one of these:::

Chili’s “Baby Back Ribs” jingle.
“Who Let the Dogs Out”
“We Will Rock You”
Kit-Kat candy-bar jingle (“Gimme a Break …”)
“Mission Impossible” theme
“YMCA”
“Whoomp, There It Is”
“The Lion Sleeps Tonight”
“It’s a Small World After All”

Now I’ve got this montage of “Whoomp There It Is” with “The Lion Sleeps Tonight” as the melody in the background. With a combo of Mission Impossible and Muppets for the chorus.
You suck. Srsly.

“eeevil unholy day of Sam-hane!”

This morning’s drive was beautiful. It was a perfect Halloween morning. Ground mist lingered in patches and swags of silver through bare tree branches. The eastern sky was hazily lit by the sun; a huge yet dim orange ball of fire. Too bad that there were other people on the goddamn road. They totally harshed my bliss. Otherwise, I could have really enjoyed the commute into work.

Still and all – can’t complain overly much. Its my favorite time of the year. Its my week with the Girlie; which means that I get to take her Trick or Treating. My sweetie was snuggled in the covers at *our* house, when I left this morning. There are a couple of bumps in the road but we are dealing with them.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The Trick or Treating entourage will be leaving from my house around 6PM. We will be having a quick dinner; probably hamburgers and mac n’cheese— afore we leave. Anyone with kiddoes that wants to join us — or who just wants to be part of Sum’s* Honor Guard will be most welcome. Drop me a line here or in email for directions to our new place**.
** – let me know and I will drop a burger on the grill for ya’ll as well.
srsly…
What a long week its been. Yes, I know that its only Tuesday. But, I didn’t really get a weekend break.~
Oh…Ferfuckssakes….
I just got an email from the Girlie’s teacher stating that she hadn’t turned in last week’s homework nor had she brought her homework folder to school for the past three days. I had noticed it gone last evening when I picked her up from school. She told me that she had left it at school.
Last week was her Dad’s week. I was on my “vacation” for the year — down in South Florida moving the BF up to TX.~~
Am I just expecting too much from him? I mean…how goddamn hard is it to make sure that she is doing her schoolwork? That it makes it into her folder? That her folder makes it into her backpack? That she has lunch/lunch money each day?
*chews on desk in frustration*
I think I may just have to re-negotiate the custody paperwork and take her full time. She cannot have this inconsistency in her expectations. She needs more structure as she’s borderline ADHD. I’m not going to medicate her — she doesn’t need that. What she does need is to know what to expect and when to expect it. That should not ever change no matter whose house she is at. It gives her the tools to help stay focused and on track.
And its not like exJ and I haven’t had this talk before. More than once. More than thrice.
Maybe his teeth are making him forget again. *high eye roll*
Soooo…Change of plan! Ready?
A plan is only concrete until its set in motion – then its anybody’s guess.
We have excercised our perogative and changed our move out date. Now we are leaving on Thursday, rather than Saturday. This will give us Thursday/Friday to drive back to Austin. And Saturday through Tuesday to finish up with the truck.
Today is the last day (likely) that I will be able to check email/LJ until we get back to Austin.
Crap.
*wipes off the monitor*
Things are proceeding apace with the visit/packing. Everything except essentials and furniture has been packed away. BF is NOTHING if not organized.
It has been very rainy and gray here for the past several days. If it clears up today, we are planning on hitting the beach and then the local biker/family bar.*
* – If ever you are in the Ft. Pierce area, I highly recommend Archie’s. It is a hole in the wall bar, only serving wine, beer and snacks. It is the best biker bar I’ve ever been to. And the kids are welcome anytime before 8! 🙂
If I only had a brain!
Good morning O Best Beloveds…
There is good news in the Land of Oz! A lovely apartment has been found along the Yellow Brick Road – I will post piccies from the locator service* here in a bit – that meets our needs. The biggest need of all being of course, that we will be able to move into it fairly rapidly. The fact that its** a beautiul place, in a great setting are total bonuses.
So we are set to get the truck on Friday of next week (26th) and pack, pack, pack. Then we will leave Saturday morning and drive until we collapse in a hotel. Probably somewhere in the Mobile, AL area but who knows? We may be able to go further. More driving on Sunday until we finally reach Austin-town. And then collapse into a small, whimpering heap. We would totally sleep in the apartment that first night but our lease doesn’t not start until Monday. It would start Sunday but the office isn’t open on Sundays. Ah, well.
So, Monday morning we will go in and sign our lease and start the move in process. Or at least, D will. I have to work that day – so I will be leaving him to it. Any of your guys who wants to volunteer to help him out, are more than welcome to do so! Pizza, beer (and/or the tasty beverage of your choice) are available to all who help him get things into the apartment.
* – You know, I usually make my footnotes small but for today, I want to plug the apartment locating service that I worked with this past week. Capitol City Locating and its owner/agent (Kevin Hover) worked their ASS off finding me what I wanted in the tiny amount of time that I gave them. They went out of their way to make sure that the things that I specified as absolutes were met, never once tried to up-sell me, and through a ruthless combination of charm and single-mindedness, got me the concessions that I wanted on my lease. They totally rocked and I would strongly recommend them to anyone who is looking for an apartment in the Austin area. Go, Kevin!
** – The apartment management has also been teh Uber Awesome in the fact that we finished a good deal of the paperwork online and across state lines. They called and checked and asked questions – and again, never once tried to push me into something that I didn’t want. I am tres impressed. Hopefully, they will continue to be as cool as we live there.
